App could take on different form

Apple is looking to resolve the situation with Evi without kicking the title off of the App Store entirely, a report says. Citing "sources familiar with the matter," The Verge claims that Apple is currently working with developer True Knowledge to iron out offending similarities to Siri, the voice command system on the iPhone 4S. It has allegedly become standard practice for Apple to "flag" an app that could be confusing and then cooperate with its creators.

App Store guidelines state that "Apps which appear confusingly similar to an existing Apple product or advertising theme will be rejected." Much like Siri, Evi translates plain-language voice commands into search functions; the former differs mainly in supporting widgets, and in controlling some iOS functions, such as music playback or Reminders. Evi, though, will run on several iOS devices, whereas Siri is currently restricted to the iPhone 4S.
