Remote iOS-controlled toy maker iHelicopters has announced the immediate availability of its latest creation, the iPhone Controlled Stunt Car Racer. Powered by a rechargeable Li-Polymer battery and using an RF dongle attached to the headphone jack of the iPhone, the little racer can roam up to 66 feet for up to 15 minutes of race time. The unit leverages the accelerometer of iOS devices for steering.

Silva has announced the launch of a new line of handmade bamboo cases designed for the iPad 2. LG has unveiled its Tag+ with NFC ahead of the World Mobile Congress. Very similar in concept to the Sony Xperia SmartTags revealed at CES 2012, LG’s Tag+ allows users to take advantage of the NFC technology in its new Optimus LTE Tag to automatically set the phone into user-preset modes. In the example seen in the photo embedded below, LG demonstrates how the NFC-equipped version of the Optimus LTE smartphone can be toggled into car mode, just by placing the phone near the tag for the setting to be applied.
Following yesterday's Mountain Lion announcement, Firemint has detailed its plan to incorporate some of the operating system's new features into Real Racing 2. Game Center integration will add achievements, leaderboards, and friend invites for online play, while AirPlay support will allow users to easily play the game on external displays. Additionally, the update will add support for synchronizing game saves between iOS and Mac versions of Real Racing.
Gaming peripherals maker Razer has just introduced its Mass Effect 3 branded gear. Developed by and licensed with BioWare, there are seven peripherals in total. Ten One Design has announced the launch of the Magnus, a new magnetic stand for the iPad 2. Constructed from a single piece of aluminum, the stand takes advantage of the iPad 2's built-in magnets and holds the device securely in the landscape orientation. Akai has introduced the MPC Fly, a compact music production center designed specifically for the iPad 2. GEAR4 has announced that its Renew SleepClock will be launched in US Apple Retail stores in March for $200. The bedside alarm clock incorporates two sensors for monitoring breathing and movement, allowing the associated iOS app to log sleep cycles. The senors have a range of 1.5m and are able to recognize movement through bedclothes and duvets. They also remove the need for any additional wristbands, headbands, or accessories that are common among other devices.
Cable maker Volex is switching to halogen-free power cables this year because of its primary customer, Apple, reports say. Burning halogen can result in the release of dioxins and furans, although the chemicals are only said to be a serious concern during the disposal process. Volex supplies both USB and power cables to Apple for products such as iPhones and iPads.
