New network storage array to feature anti-virus, run applications
Storage solution provider Iomega announced a new flagship product today, the Iomega StorCenter px12-450r Network Storage array, a networked data storage system incorporating an Ivy Bridge processor from Intel. Iomega also announced the addition of McAfee VirusScan Enterprise to all Iomega StorCenter PX series products. Iomega's new storage option would appear to be the first non-computer product to feature an Ivy Bridge processor.

New tool integrates search without leaving doc
Google slipped a new feature into its Google Docs online productivity suite today, adding the ability to conduct Google searches within the document. HP uses 3M technology to combine network and power into one cable

HP Slate 8 may be much sleeker, net 10h battery
The first production Windows 8 tablet may have been uncovered early in a presentation believed leaked on Friday. Badged as the Slate 8, the third-generation Windows tablet seen by Neowin in preliminary rendered form would be much sleeker than previous generations. The 10-inch tablet would now be much more competitive in design, at 0.36 inches thick and eight to ten hours of battery, while carrying an aluminum design with a chin for the hardware Start button.

iPad Document Hub announced
Pre-orders for a limited edition ceramic white LIL KIKR+ are now being accepted through Kickstarter. The LIL KIKR+, which is expected to begin shipping in June, is a portable dock for the iPhone and iPod touch that naturally amplifies the devices built-in speaker. iPad almost totally dominates
The iPhone 4S was far and away the most-activated device during the March quarter by Good Technology enterprise customers, a new study by the firm says. The phone represented 37 percent of activations, roughly four times the amount of any other device. The iPad 2 took home second place at 17.7 percent; the third-gen iPad came in fourth at 4.3 percent, but was only available for less than one month in the quarter, and nevertheless accounted for 12.1 percent of all of the March activations Good tracked.

Windows Server 2012 official, due this year
Microsoft at its Management Summit in Las Vegas on Tuesday introduced the latest version of its system management environment, System Center 2012. Microsoft Corporate VP Brad Anderson said the new software would let system administrators launch a private cloud infrastructure in about 30 seconds. It will offer two console views: one for the infrastructure management side, or service providers, and another for app management, or for service customers.

Solves problems wwith redemption codes,
Apple has released a new version of Configurator, its Mac utility for the mass deployment of iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches. The v1.0.1 update fixes a number of problems, such as trouble importing enterprise apps packaged as IPA files. Redemption codes are a special focus: they can now be reused if an original device is erased, and apps with commas in their titles are newly supported. Likewise, the number of redemption codes remaining for an app should be properly displayed.

BlackBerry may still be on the rise
RIM's market share of the US government is going up, The company's Senior VP of BlackBerry security Scott Totzke argued in an interview held late last week and published Monday. While the enterprise was still a soft point, he noted to Bloomberg that the total number of installs was slightly growing even with cutbacks meaning fewer employees. About 400,000 units were sold to the government for federal-level workers in the past year, and 40 percent of clients had upgraded, although most of those were BlackBerry 6 given BB7's clearance in February.

Symptomatic of shift to mobile, cloud for workers
The US Department of Veterans Affairs has opted to terminate its Microsoft Software Assurance for Volume Licensing agreement for the 300,000 employees who use the tech giant's operating system and applications. Macs still a minority in actual deployments
Some 46 percent of corporations are now giving Macs to workers, according to a Forrester report cited by CIO Journal. The figure is a growth of roughly half within a space of two years. Forrester analyst Frank Gillett credits the shift to iOS devices. "The use of iPads and iPhones in the workplace is creating increased awareness and consideration of Macs," he says.

Mobile device chipmaker ARM on Tuesday revealed it has partnered with smart card maker Gemalto and German tech firm Giesecke & Devrient to boost smartphone and tablet security on platforms like Android. RIM started its Tuesday by formally releasing BlackBerry Mobile Fusion. The remote administration tool is RIM's first truly cross-platform tool and both provides the expected oversight of BlackBerry phones and PlayBooks as well as Android and iOS devices. Bank of Montreal (BMO) Capital analyst Keith Bachman has issued a note to investors raising price targets for AAPL to $675 (up from $590) as well as his estimate of iPad and iPhone sales for both the current quarter and the rest of 2012. ChangeWave shows iPad consolidating in work world
A follow-up study through ChangeWave has shown that corporate uptake of iPads was only climbing higher in February despite more concerted attempts from Android makers. Of those hoping to buy tablets in the spring, he number of companies looking to buy the iPad shot from 77 percent in November to a new high of 84 percent just last month. Without exception, every Android tablet designer's share of tablet interest declined, with none crossing into double digits.

Michael Dell backs away from core PC business
Dell's namesake, CEO Michael Dell, made a symbolic statement at an enterprise launch event that his company wasn't really a PC builder. Halliburton defects from BlackBerry to iOS
RIM has taken one of its largest, more conspicuous blows as a leaked e-mail and subsequent confirmation have revealed on Monday that Halliburton is switching from the BlackBerry to the iPhone.
