Sprint Nextel to launch new music service

Sprint Nextel is due to launch its new music-download service on Monday, October 31st, which will compete with Apple's own music download service, iTunes. The service will be supported by new mobile phones from Samsung and Sanyo, and subscribers can purchase individual tracks for $2.50 each, according to a report from Forbes.com. Phones can be used to download music directly to the device, which can later be transferred to a PC. The new service will not support music downloaded via iTunes, and its initial launch will see approximately 300,000 songs from EMI Group, Warner Music Group, Vivedi Universal's Universal Music Group unit, and Sony BMG, according to the report.

Why can't Sprint offer better phones? All the phones they have look the same and probably do the same. They need to offer better, more advanced phones like the Sony Ericsson ones or the RAZR, or something other than a flip-phone.
What will this music service accomplish anyway. Can my flip phone even store a song in its memory? I have problems downloading games... how will song fit then?

Now maybe if the song was a $.25 it would be worth it to not have an iPod and a phone in my pocket. but over twice as much???????? who is going to do this?
