We've posted a review of the the new Wacom Bamboo Series, which promises tablets for the masses, employing a textured surface to mimic the pen-and-paper feel for your stylus and to replace the mouse in everyday tasks such as handwriting text, drawing, and even general desktop navigation. The Bamboo branding challenged my initial skepticism, turning out to be somewhat apropos; the instrument’s origins reach back to the first bamboo and fur pens in China. Although its sleek look is less than organic, the Bamboo packs the same surprising functionality in a small footprint as it grass namesake.

Ever wondered how to make your own Mac icons? This tutorial shows you how. To complete this tutorial, you will need Adobe Photoshop (or any other image editor that will export transparent TIFF files), Xcode and CandyBar installed on your Mac. Xcode is Apple’s free software development kit. You should be able to install Xcode from your computer’s install disk or download it off Apple’s Website. It’s also important to note that the newest version of Mac OS X, Leopard has moved to a maximum 512 pixel icon sizes. CandyBar allows you to organize your icons.

Firefox 3 beta 2 released

Firefox 3 Beta 2 is now available for download. This is the tenth developer milestone. Features include improved security features such as: protection from cross-site JSON data leaks, tighter restrictions on site-specific content using effective TLD service, better presentation of website identity and security, malware protection, stricter SSL error pages, anti-virus integration in the download manager, version checking for insecure plugins.

Apple 11th in Web traffic

comScore, a leader has released analysis of U.S. consumer activity at top online properties for November 2007 from its comScore Media Metrix service. The official beginning of the holiday shopping season resulted in retail sites dominating the top gaining site and category rankings. Apple Inc. came in 11th, right behind the New York Times, with 43,775,000 unique visitors.
