Linkin Park's Apple Store concert, hinted at by band member Mike Shinoda, was played last night at the New York City SoHo location. The event got underway just after midnight according to reports, and was filmed and recorded for a later release on the iTunes Store, sources for Billboard say. The finished product will likely be ready in March, featuring songs such as "Wake," "My December" and "Bleed It Out.""This is the best show in an Apple Store we've ever played," band lead Chester Bennington joked with the audience, composed mostly of contest winners and industry members. The group will play a much larger venue tonight, New York's Madison Square Garden.
Apple regularly hosts famous bands in its stores around the world, with some visitors to New York including Kaki King, the New Pornographers and Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth. These acts are typically outside of the mainstream however, making Linkin Park an oddity. Billboard's sources suggest that Apple is already working to sign more pop acts for store appearances.
